OUR MINISTRIES
Bible Studies
A variety of studies and short courses and seminars of various durations. They take two forms:
- Thematic Studies (Holy Spirit, Psalms, Forgiveness, Beatitudes)
- Pastor’s Study of the Bible
Children’s Ministry
Children’s Ministry is an opportunity for children to have fun and to further develop their relationship with the Christian community and with Christ. Children learn through a variety of fun activities designed to entertain and inform.
Youth Fellowship
Wesley United Methodist Church’s Youth Ministry consists of young people ages 13-21 who are actively engaged in planning and implementing a wide variety of programs that love youth where they are, to encourage them in developing their relationship to God and to provide them with opportunities for nurture and growth in discipleship.
With a Youth Choir, service to the community and the congregation, and fun fellowship, Wesley’s Youth are very involved. The Youth groups meets monthly, and provides opportunities for young people to learn and demonstrate valuable leadership skills.
Young Adult Ministry
Wesley United Methodist Church is in the beginning stages of defining a dynamic and powerful worship and ministry experience geared to the needs of young adults. This ministry will help young adults lay claim to their own faith walk, develop and strengthen their journey with Christ.
United Methodist Women
This is for women who find meaning in their church and are drawn to its fellowship, who want to combine fellowship with study, worship and outreach opportunities, who feel they have gifts that are to be shared with others, and who seek a supportive community to affirm their own sense of purpose and commitment to God. United Methodist Men
United Methodist Men exists to declare the centrality of Christ in every man’s life. The men’s ministry leads to the spiritual growth of men and effective discipleship. This purpose is served as men are called to model the servant leadership of Jesus Christ. The United Methodist Men seeks to provide resources that assist men in their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and His church. Contact: Richard Gadsden
Lay Speaking Ministries
Individuals receive training so that they might assist the church and take the Word of God into facilities that would otherwise not hear the Word, such as nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, etc.
Walk to Emmaus
The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. The 72-hour experience is designed to inspire, challenge, and equip local church members for Christian action in their homes, churches, workplaces and communities. The Upper Room of the United Methodist Church sponsors the Walk to Emmaus.
Kairos Prison Ministry
Kairos is staffed by members of the Emmaus community who reach out to minister to incarcerated women and men. The Kairos weekend brings the Walk to Emmaus experience to those who need to hear the liberating power of the Gospel and learn of the love of God through Christ Jesus.
Epiphany Prison Ministry
Epiphany Ministry is the ministry to incarcerated youth, staffed by people who have completed the Walk to Emmaus. Members take the Word and love of God to youth in a weekend experience.
Food Pantry
Our Food Pantry Ministry provides non-perishable items to individuals and families who are homeless and those in need of food. Before the coronavirus pandemic, on-site service was available several times of the month. The Food Pantry continues to provide non-perishable food items through local community food banks and other faith-based partnerships.
Ronald McDonald House
Showing the love and hope of Jesus Christ through simple acts of kindness describes Wesley’s outreach effort to the Ronald McDonald House. Wesley has provided monthly hospitality bags and quarterly dinner to the families at the Ronald McDonald House. The bags contained non-perishable snack items, handwritten notes of encouragement and pocket-sized inspirational cards.
School Partnership
Uplifting the children by nurturing and supporting the faculty and staff is the mission of our school partnership ministry. Watkins Nance Elementary school faculty and staff have received monthly treats and tokens of appreciation for their commitment to students and families.
